Grant programme at the 20th World Diabetes Congress
The 20th World Diabetes Congress addresses the global diabetes community and attracts a broad audience worldwide. The International Diabetes Federation is the global advocate for people with diabetes and is committed to assisting participants with limited resources by providing a number of travel grants based on specific criteria.
Criteria
The criteria for offering travel grants include:
- The applicant is under 30 years old at the time of the congress
- The applicant submits an abstract which must be accepted
- The applicant submits a letter of motivation of one page clearly demonstrating the benefit & learning experience deriving from the congress attendance
Funding
IDF travel grants cover
- Congress registration fee
- A contribution to travel expenses (economy class)
- Up to 5-night budget accommodation
Schedule
- 3 Nov 2008 opening online submission
- 3 April 2009 deadline online submission
- 1 June 2009 notification of approved grant applicants
- 30 June 2009 extended deadline early registration for rejected abstracts
Application
To apply for a grant, the application form should be completed and submitted online. An accompanying CV and a letter of motivation of maximum one page, should be sent to the Congress Secretariat by 3 April 2009.
Procedure of review and selection
Applications will be subject to review and selection by the Grant Committee.
